The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has completed the construction of a 800m service road for Al Furousiya Street between Jassim bin Mohammed Al Ahmad Al Thani Street and Al Sailiya Road towards Al Manaseer Intersection.
This, according to a statement from Ashghal, is in addition to completing the infrastructure as part of the road improvement project in the western areas.
Engineer Ali Jamal, project engineer in the Doha City Section of Ashghal, said the service road on Al Furousiya Street aims to organise traffic movement, by separating the main traffic on Al Furousiya Street heading towards Al Manaseer Intersection, from the traffic on the service road which serves the commercial buildings on this side and facilitates access to them.
Al Furousiya Street, which plays a vital role in connecting several areas in Doha West, is a major road linking Doha to the western areas of the country. The works included increasing the number of lanes of Al Furousiya Street to four with a service road in each direction, converting Al Furousiya and Muaither roundabouts into signal-controlled intersections, and widening Al Manaseer Intersection along with installing light poles on Al Furousiya Street and providing pedestrian and cyclist lanes.
Also, pavement and installing of directional signage have been carried out in addition to providing Intelligent Transport System, landscaping and developing the irrigation system.
