The Ministry of Labour organised a variety of sporting activities on the occasion of the National Sport Day (NSD) at the Museum of Islamic Art Park, attended by ministry employees and their families.
Commenting on the National Sport Day celebrations, HE Minister of Labour Dr Ali bin Smaikh al-Marri said that this year's NSD coincides with Qatar's successful hosting of major sporting events, a testimony of the ingenious vision of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, placing physical activity and sports at the heart of social advancement and investment in the physical and intellectual capabilities of the human asset, as set in the Qatar National Vision 2030.
He expressed the Ministry of Labour's keenness on ensuring the practice of physical activity and sports in workers' residences. The ministry does so in co-operation with joint labour committees, with the aim of supporting workers to practice physical activity and play sports in an effort to enhance social health.
HE the Minister of Labour noted the large annual participation in celebrating NSD, adding that this strengthens the values of sports in society, such as discipline, mutual respect, sportsmanship, and team work, leading to better social cohesion and promotes its values.
