The meeting of the Technical Working Group concerned with Development of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Trust, Accountability Standards System wrapped up in Doha.
Hosted by the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), the three-day meeting witnessed a series of productive panel discussions with the engagement of a host of participants representing the IFRC, along with 15 national societies representing the international humanitarian society.
The discussions tackled the mechanisms of creating a new system that helps the national societies prove to the partners, donors, beneficiaries and other relevant entities that they are trustworthy institutions that are subject to accountability in issuing international recognition certificates something that helps bolster their development in those fields.
The participants applauded Qatar's leading role in supporting and orienting the humanitarian work in the region and the entire world, as the new agreed standards are projected to be applied through the professional work committee during a meeting that will be held at the level of national societies around the globe, which will promote the standing and role of the QRCS and its effective contributions in upgrading the humanitarian work mechanisms.
In this regard, Director of Relief and International Development Division at QRCS, Dr Mohamed Salah Ibrahim, underscored the significance of convening such meetings that would certainly legalise the humanitarian work and augment further guarantees and regulations that would advance and promote the service level.
On the sidelines of the meeting, a delegation of the Technical Working Group concerned with development of the IFRC visited the premises of QRCS and toured all sections and were briefed on the activities carried out at the local and global level.
The delegation discussed with Acting Secretary-General of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) Faisal Mohamed al-Emadi the humanitarian efforts in the fields of voluntary, local development and social support, as well as health care and relief during disasters. (QNA)
