Artists add colours to the ongoing 4th edition of the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival where they give vent to their creativity.
According to an official statement from the Cultural Village Foundation-Katara, the artists demonstrate their prowess in drawing on saddles and expressing the beauty of purebred Arabian horses. Their works are inspired by the richness of the local environment and the richness of Qatari history and traditions.
On the waterfront of Katara and close to the festival headquarters, each artist sits behind the artistic painting that’s drawn on horse saddles made of leather. This is to express the beauty and originality of Arabian horses.
Artist Hassan Abu Jasoum said that the activity of drawing on the saddle resonates with the festival’s message and highlights the value of creativity. “The term 'horse' looms large on the artistic paintings of the artists as an icon closely linked to Qatari heritage,” he said.
The paintings evoke a good response from the visitors, who flock to Katara to enjoy the beauty of horses and equestrianism in a beautiful natural setting.
Ibtihal al-Saadi expressed her happiness at participating for the second time in a row in the festival noting that she is trying to incorporate several Arabian horses into her painting and paint them with acrylic colours.
Another artist, Mohamed Johar al-Abdullah, praised the competitive and stimulating atmosphere the festival provides the participating artists the opportunity to showcase their creativity.
The festival is accompanied by several art and cultural activities, workshops and exhibitions that celebrate the beauty and qualities of horses.
