The activities of the 15th Qatar International Falcons and Hunting Festival (Marmi 2024) were concluded last night with the crowning of the winners at the falcon beauty contests.
The concluding ceremony was held at Katara the Culture Village Foundation in the presence of number of dignitaries, ministers, VIP guests, head of diplomatic missions in the country, the board of directors of Al Gannas Qatari Society, and a number of falconers from Qatar and other GCC countries besides various other guests of the festival.
Accordingly, HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani, the sponsor of the festival, crowned the winners at the falcon beauty contest in its two different categories. The winner of first place at the category of the wild white faclon grabbed a prize of QR700,000 and the second place a prize of QR500,000, while the third place got a prize of QR200,000. However, the first winner at the wild dark and black falcon grabbed a prize of QR400,000, the winner of the second place QR300,000 and the third place got a prize of QR200,000.
Abdulla bin Hamad al-Mehshadi, head of the Falcon Beauty Committee at Marmi 2024, stressed that the competitions in this category were very powerful this year as the beauty standards and specifications of the participating falcons were very close to each other, which made the job of the jury very hard to select the winners.
