The Ministry of Culture signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Qatar Assistive Technology Centre (Mada) to co-operate in joint projects that include activities and services.
The MoU was signed by Assistant Undersecretary for Cultural Affairs at the Ministry of Culture Dr Ghanem bin Mubarak al-Ali on behalf of the Ministry of Culture, while acting CEO Amani al-Tamimi signed for Mada.
The MoU includes co-operation in applying the best practices and digital accessibility standards to ensure an inclusive and executable media through IT and communication accessibility, training, capacity-building, consultations, and policies, as well as raising awareness.
In addition, Mada looks forward to optimising digital accessibility for persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Qatar through strategic partnerships that empower education sector to ensure more inclusive education, culture, and community through leveraging information and communication technologies.
Mada was established in 2010 as an initiative to consolidate digital inclusion and build an accessible technological community for PWDs. Today, it has become the center of excellence in digital accessibility in Arabic language in the world and ranked first globally in Digital Accessibility Rights Evaluation Index (DARE Index) for 2020 issued by the Global Initiative for Inclusive Information and Communication Technologies (G3ict).
