The Moroccan Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication held the ceremony of Marrakech as the capital of culture in the Islamic world in 2024 with the participation of a host of writers, intellectuals, and the public at Medan Theater in Marrakesh.
Organized in collaboration with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), the event was launched by screening an introductory film about Marrakesh which highlighted the characteristics of this historic and inveterate city.
Addressing the ceremony, Director-General of ICESCO Dr. Salem bin Mohammed Al Malik pointed out that interest in Marrakesh to be the capital of culture in the Islamic world for 2024 is worthwhile, since the city abounds with rich natural resources, as well as historic and geographic advantage.
Throughout 2024, Marrakesh is anticipated to host a myriad of cultural, intellectual and art events that will shed the light on the Islamic civilization. (QNA)
