The International Horticultural Expo 2023 Doha held a wide range of educational activities for school students to mark the International Day of Education.
Hundreds of students participated in the events during which they visited the expo pavilions and got familiarised with the cutting-edge innovations that boost sustainability, with the Expo School at the family zone holding educational and interactive activities for students.
Al Rayyan Municipality held a workshop for secondary school students at the cultural zone to shine a spotlight on the innovative projects and educational process that helped make the municipality a member in the Unesco Global Network of Learning Cities.
Director of Al Rayyan Municipality Jaber al-Jaber said that the municipality organised a celebration of the World Book and Copyright Day last week with the participation of over 230 students.
He pointed out that the municipality is keen to celebrate the World Book and Copyright Day in collaboration with the Sudanese community and school to share ideas and cultures, hailing the innovations and scientific shows presented by the Sudanese students, in addition to the information imparted on the Sudanese products and agriculture in general.
For his part, minister plenipotentiary and deputy head of the Sudanese diplomatic mission in Qatar Alwaleed Abdullah commended the organisation of Expo 2023 Doha. He added that female students succeeded in exhibiting scientific experiences, along with diverse images about Sudan, its agricultural products and climate.
The celebration of the International Day of Education came in a difficult time for Sudan, but the motto of this day is consistent with the conditions Sudan is experiencing, Abdullah added, thanking the Sudanese school in Doha for the advanced performance which indicates the incredible efforts that reflect the honored image for Sudan.
Sudan's food products, a variety of crops and scientific experiences showcased at the expo are consistent with the motto of the exhibition, Abdullah said.
The event featured the participation of a host of Sudanese officials, directors of departments of Al Rayyan Municipality, alongside more than 120 students of secondary schools from Mohamed Bin Abdul Wahab Independent Secondary School for Boys, First Assalam School for Boys, and Sudanese School for Girls.
