The Pentagon announced that the United States, in cooperation with Britain, carried out an additional round of military strikes, targeting Houthi sites in Yemen as a response to the Houthis targeting of cargo ships in the Red Sea. The operation targeted an underground storage site, missiles and other military capabilities
A joint statement issued by the US and Britain said that with the support of Australia, Bahrain, Canada and the Netherlands, the operation targeted eight main targets in Yemen.
"These precision strikes are intended to disrupt and degrade the capabilities that the Houthis use to threaten global trade," the statement added.
According to US Central Command, the new targets included missile systems, air defenses, bombers, radars, and storage facilities.
A US military official said that the new strikes were launched using ships, submarines and warplanes, confirming their success in hitting the specified targets.
The operation included the use of 25 to 30 missiles, with the participation of the Eisenhower aircraft carrier and three other US warships. The operation was also marked by the bombing of an underground Houthi warehouse containing advanced weapons, in an unprecedented step in the history of military operations, the official added.
