Malaysia coach Kim Pan-gon regretted his team 1-0 loss to Bahrain in a match today at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Al-Sadd Club, in the second round of Group E of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023.
At the post-match press conference, the South Korean said the Malaysian team missed in the last minutes despite the level they presented, and that they deserved to finish the match with at least a draw.
At the same time, he pointed to the necessity of accepting the loss because the players were unable to perform better than what they showed, stressing that he bears responsibility in front of the fans.
He said that the Malaysian team are constantly developing and this loss is a new lesson that must be learned for the future, while regretting the second loss in a row. He noted that he had a passion and a dream to reach the second round in the current continental edition but that was not achieved so far.
South Korean Pan-gon refused to accept the complete exit of the Malaysian team from the Asian Cup, saying that he had not lost hope as there is still a final match against South Korea in the third and final round of Group E, for which they must prepare in the best way in order to achieve victory.
