Qatar Charity has signed a cooperation and partnership agreement with Expo 2023 Doha, becoming a charity partner for Expo2023 Doha.
The signing of the agreement took place within the framework of the cooperation between the Ministry of Municipality and Qatar Charity. Under the agreement, Qatar Charity provides various donation methods in Expo for funding humanitarian projects in environment.
The agreement was signed by Ahmad Yousef Fakhroo, CEO’s assistant, Resources Development and Media Sector at Qatar Charity, and Mohammed Ali al-Khouri, secretary-general of Expo 2023 Doha.
Fakhroo highlighted that the agreement strengthens the role of humanitarian work within Qatar and beyond. He stated that, under the agreement, Qatar Charity has been given the opportunity to promote an environmental project in line with the Expo's theme, "Green Desert, Better Environment”. He indicated that the selected project "Seawater Desalination in Somalia" will offer solutions for producing fresh, clean, and potable water, provide a safe and sustainable water source, and contribute to alleviating the suffering of children and women and reducing diseases resulting from the use of contaminated water.
He noted that, Qatar Charity has provided means of donations throughout the expo, as the fixed collection boxes are available in different locations, in addition to payment machines. He added that a QR code is displayed on screens in Expo to promote the project.
Al-Khouri noted that the partnership would be fruitful and contribute to the valuable work carried out by Qatar Charity.
