The pavilion of Al Meera Consumer Goods Company at Expo 2023 Doha is attracting visitors from around the world highlighting its sustainable initiatives as part of the participation as a platinum sponsor.
The expo, which will run until March 28 at Al Bidda Park under the theme ‘Green Desert, Better Environment’, is the first international horticultural exhibition in Qatar and the Middle East and North Africa.
Al Meera’s pavilion focuses on the company’s ongoing efforts in the field of sustainability and under its social responsibility programme to reduce carbon footprint and protect natural resources.
The pavilion in the Family Zone is divided into three sections. The first revolves around some of Al Meera’s sustainability initiatives and includes the plastic bottle and aluminium can reverse vending machine, battery bins for visitors to dispose of their used batteries, reusable shopping bags, online sustainability games, and more.
The second area is dedicated to children where they can actively participate in many fun activities to guide them towards a more sustainable lifestyle. The third section is the only mini grocery at the expo to serve visitors with a range of snacks, sandwiches, and essential needs.
In the sustainability field, Al Meera has launched several initiatives, including deploying recycling facilities for plastic bottles, cans, and used batteries; offering reusable shopping bags and organising beach clean-ups, among others.
In addition, it launched the ‘Truth Bottle’ campaign to emphasise the importance of rationalising water consumption. Al Meera is also in partnership with local recycling organisations that collect all types of paper, cardboard, and plastic crates used across all the branches to minimise waste. Most recently, Al Meera unveiled its first electronic waste recycling station.
