Coach of the Iraqi national team, Jesus Casas expressed his satisfaction with the victory over Indonesia by 3-1 during the match that was held at Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium in the first round of Group D of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023.
Casas stated in a post-match conference on Monday that he was happy with the performance of all the players on the team.
He explained that he would begin preparations for the next match against Japan, which he described as the most difficult team in Group D.
The coach denied revealing the style of play that he will rely on in the next match. He said that they are aware that facing Japan will be difficult, especially since the two teams share similar playing styles. However, he trusts the ability of his players.
Casas addressed some of the mistakes made by the team during its match against Indonesia when it came to defense and poor passing of the ball in the middle of the field. He affirmed that he will work to further develop the performance of the team before facing Japan.
On his part, Amir Al Ammari, the Iraqi national team player, expressed his joy at being named the best player of the match.
Winning the first match in the Asian Cup was the main goal of the team and will be a strong motivation in the upcoming matches, he added.
He praised the substitutions made by Casas during the match which contributed to the win.
Al Ammari also highlighted the crowd attendance and thanked the fans who came to the stadium and supported his team.
