Katara – the Cultural Village continues to attract a large number of visitors to the festivities connected to the ongoing AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, extending bridges of communication towards diverse Asian cultures, in addition to presenting various Qatari folk heritage.
Katara will open today the 4th edition of the Katara International Amber Exhibition, running until Thursday, in Katara Hall, Building 12, with the participation of approximately 70 pavilions from 14 countries: Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, the UAE, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Turkiye, China, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, and the Dominican Republic.
The exhibition will be an opportunity to learn about amber and how it is transformed from a raw material into prayer beads, women's accessories, or antiques for homes.
The Qatari market is considered one of the most important in the region, with a great demand for amber.
Throughout the football tournament which runs until February 10, Katara will showcase various bands at Al Hikma courtyard, with the military music show presented by the Qatari Armed Forces – a music battalion comprising 27 members, including three flags bearers, among the highlights.
Katara is hosting a group of art exhibitions that express different Asian cultures, including the Katara International Asian Nations Fine Arts Exhibition, 6 by 6 Gulf Art Exhibition, and the Ceramics Exhibition.
Children can join a number of activities, including art workshops, drawing and colouring, in addition to interactive activities.
Meanwhile, the “Saqr House” (organised by the Saudi Football Federation), which occupies an area of 10,000sq, at the southern area of Katara, boasts of various sections with exhibits highlighting the history of the Saudi national team, its achievements, and its participation in previous Asian Cup tournaments, in addition to many pictures, historical publications, cups, and sportswear, the commentary room, games zone, and six restaurants.
Katara Publishing House distributed Qatari flags to the visitors, and organised a drawing and colouring event for children in the theatre located in the square opposite Al Gannas Qatari Society.
The Katara Publishing house is participating in a pavilion in the 4th edition of Katara International Amber Exhibition, displaying a number of its publications, such as Amber, the Flower of Precious Stones, Ash-coloured Amber, Precious Minerals and Stones, Shells and Conches, A Brief Account Book of Pearls, and other traditional and literary books with interesting content.
Katara is also organising a group of artistic and cultural competitions, including the Best Photo Competition and a fine art competition under the umbrella theme of Customs and Traditions of Asian Nations.
