Coinciding with the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 which kicked-off Friday and runs until February 10, Katara-Cultural Village launched activities celebrating the culture and peoples of Asia, attracting a number of visitors from various nationalities, age groups and walks of life.
Katara is fully decked up with a variety of decorations, including the flags of the 24 countries participating in the tournament, for the month-long festivities, a statement said.
The audience in Al-Hikma Square followed the Qatari parade. The band will perform on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Giant screens in Al-Hikma Square are showing all the matches.
In the theatre located in the square opposite Al Gannas Qatari Society, the Indonesian band presented various traditional songs. The attendees also watched a display of traditional Chinese costumes.
As part of the Asian Cup Children's Event, a group of children sang patriotic songs and performed dances. Along the corridors of Katara there are vendors offering antiques, souvenirs and handicrafts. Katara Publishing House has three stands.
Katara is hosting many activities for children and adults. The visitors can also experience the Turab exhibition by Qatari artist Lulwah al-Mansouri and the Asia Stars exhibition by photographer Haitham bin Salim al-Shukairi in Building 18 from 3pm to 11pm, the statement added.
