The Cultural Village Foundation -- Katara will launch a number of activities accompanying the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 from Jan 12 to Feb 10. The activities will include a rich and diverse programme of Qatari and Asian culture, art, custom and popular heritage.
The Street Art Festival will see artists, actors and musicians performing individually or collectively. The audience will witness several exciting and distinctive performances, such as the Military Music Choir Show, traditional Qatari art, the Parachute Show and stunning performances by the Joint Special Forces under the supervision of the Qatar Air Sports Committee.
The public will also enjoy a series of art, culture, and heritage exhibitions, such as Qatari fine art exhibition, Asian Cup postage stamps exhibition, a museum of traditional wooden ships, an exhibition of the history of the oud instrument, and the Katara International Amber Exhibition, which presents a different collection of rosaries from different countries from all over the world, in addition to the Turab exhibition by the Qatari artist Lulwa al-Mansouri, the Katara International Asian Nations Exhibition with the participation of 70 artists, and the existing "Qatari Female Fashion Designers" exhibition which includes a display of traditional women's fashion designs from Qatar, an exhibition of "Five Experiences from the Land of Mesopotamia" by a group of Iraqi artists, in addition to an exhibition on ceramics, another on Sadu, the Stars of Asia exhibition organised by the Qatar Photography Centre, and a 66 Gulf art exhibition.
There will also be a live fashion show of the traditional costumes of the countries participating in the Asian Cup, in co-ordination with the Asian embassies in Qatar, in addition to the "street decoration" displays that will be held on Founder's Street, which is a lighting display along with street decoration and other ornamentations to celebrate the Asian Cup.
The celebration includes a variety of activities, interactive workshops, and children's competitions. The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs will also be present with various activities, in addition to the participation of the Saudi House, which is held under the auspices of the Saudi Football Federation.
Katara will also organise a photography competition and fine art competition and a group of artistic and heritage markets such as the craft market and the Handicrafts Art Market for, arts, and designs. As for cinematic performances, there will be a screening of the Japanese film 'Ninja Warrior' and the Malaysian film 'Ula Pola'.
Qatari Al Gannas Association will participate in a special event celebrating the Qatari hunting heritage, in addition to holding the Al Mazayen Championship in Building 12, which is one of the most important tournaments hosted by the Marmi Festival. Al Thuraya Planetarium will present various shows, such as a journey around the solar system, planets and space, and 2D & 3D shows. Al Hikmah courtyard will host Brazilian Ricardinho to break the Guinness World Record by controlling the ball without dropping it for 49 consecutive hours.
Katara will also host the 4th edition of the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival at Katara Corniche from Feb 1 to 11, as the festival is one of the most prominent international festivals that brings the best types of purebred Arabian horses in the world.
