As part of its continuing efforts to raise the capabilities of volunteers and develop their skills, Izdihar, the volunteer incubator at Qatar Charity (QC), organised last December a training workshop for volunteers and a winter camp for female students aged between 15 and 17.
The workshop, devoted to 'impromptu sermons' was presented by trainers Saleh Jabr and Kawthar Nasser. They stressed the need to understand the audience and the ability to interact quickly, in addition to using intellectual creativity to present the desired idea or topic in an attractive and inspiring way.
The winter camp provided an opportunity for the girls to spend their school vacation in a useful and enjoyable way. There were volunteer activities, recreational and educational field trips, workshops to develop artistic skills, and competitions, in addition to educational experiences to deal with challenges and responsibilities.
QC's Initiatives and Volunteering Department head Fatima al-Muhannadi, said: “We always work to support initiatives and encourage Qatari youth to volunteer. We also aim to instill the values of volunteering with young people and disseminate various knowledge that serves those interested in volunteering and enhances their skills, such as the impromptu speech workshop that enhances the participants’ self-confidence and teaches them how to speak.” Izdihar was launched by QC in October 2022.
