The Iranian football team arrived in Doha Monday to compete in AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 saga.
The Iranian team play within Group C, alongside UAE, Palestine and Hong Kong and are determined to win the fourth Asian title in history, after they were crowned three times in 1968, 1972 and 1976.
The team ranked 21st in FIFA classification issued in December 2023 and 15th in August 2005 as the best global classification. The Iranian team is spearheaded by the coach Amir Ghalenoei who returned to take on the mantle of his mission anew after more than 17 years of training for the first time in his career.
Ghalenoei believes in the ability of team to achieve a fabulous milestone during AFC tournament in Qatar, because they embrace outstanding footballers, many of whom emerged during the past European leagues.
The Iranian team are due to take on Palestine on Jan. 14 at the Education City Stadium, followed by another match against the Hong Kong national football team in the second round at Khalifa International Stadium prior to concluding their competition in the group stage by facing UAE on Jan. 23 at the Education City Stadium.
