The United Nations has once again called on all parties to exercise the utmost restraint and take urgent steps to calm tensions in the region following the Israeli airstrikes targeting the southern suburbs of the capital, Beirut.

Florence Soto from the Office of the Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General expressed concern about the recent developments in Beirut, warning of the risks of the conflict in the Gaza Strip spreading to the broader region.

Soto called on all members of the international community to exert every possible effort to prevent an escalation of the situation there.

An Israeli airstrike targeted the area of Mshayerfeh in the southern suburbs of the capital, Beirut, resulting in the death of 6 people and injuring several others.

Since the outbreak of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip on Oct. 7, 2023, the border areas in southern Lebanon have been subjected to continuous bombardment by the occupying forces, forcing thousands of residents to evacuate and leave their lands. (QNA)
