South Korean Defense Minister Shin Won-sik warned North Korea against continuing its provocative acts.
"We must make North Korea feel in their bones that reckless provocative behavior threatening the Republic of Korea will soon become a prelude to destruction," Shin said.
Shin added North Korea's provocative threats will continue in the new year, and called for strengthened readiness in his country in order to confront these provocations.
He affirmed that in light of the dangerous security situation on the Korean Peninsula, the South Korean army needs to strengthen its readiness, adding that "Only 'powerful strength' can maintain 'real peace.'"
The South Korean Defense Minister's statements come days after North Korea announced that it intends to launch three additional military spy satellites in 2024 in order to enhance the capabilities of its army, after it succeeded in placing its first satellite Malligyong-1 into orbit Nov. 21, 2023.
