Al Ahli and Umm Salal entered the semi-finals of the Ooredoo Cup on Wednesday. In the quarter-finals, Umm Salal beat Al Shamal 2-0 while Ahli sailed past Al Markhiya 4-1. At the Hamad Bin Khalifa Stadium, Algerian striker Andy Delort was the star of the show as he scored both the goals for Umm Salal in the 8th and 13th minutes.
Later their semi-finals opponents, Ahli came back from a goal down to seal their last four slot. Markhiya went ahead thanks to Moayed Hassan’s strike in the 31st minute. But Ahli hit back in the second half.
Ali Qadri scored an equaliser in the 53rd minute, before Danilo Arboleda gave them the lead five minutes later. Noor Rahman’s own goal in the 70th minute extended Ahli’s advantage, while former PSG star Julian Draxler added a fourth in the 74th minute.
