Katara studios have fervently offered a splendid artwork that interacts with the mascots of 2023 AFC Asian Cup which is due to be hosted by Doha from Jan 12 to Feb 10, 2024, with the participation of 24 teams.
The studios have embarked on producing animations and a song inspired by animation's world that encourage perseverance and the importance of clinging to hope, as the studios have been keen to pay tribute to the legacy of the tournament that Qatar is set to host for the third time in history.
On Dec. 1, the first mascot was unveiled impersonating the family of gerbil animal in a special captivating ceremony held specifically for this occasion at Barahat Msheireb which drew a huge turnout from fans and the public.
The creative director, artwork producer and director at Katara studios Fahad al-Kuwari affirmed that the crucial idea of creating this artwork is to innovate a mesmerizing concept that invokes old memories and shines a spotlight on the values and culture of the Qatari community.
Al-Kuwari, who had contributed to producing the official mascot of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, said he wanted to blend the elements of the past in this such of artworks through introducing a song for children which is replete with numerous noble values by considering the major popular consideration earned by the animations in Qatar and the region. He added that this creative artwork holds the mold of nostalgia and simultaneously draws adults to have echoes for all nations across the continent.
Artist Dana al-Meer, who participated in writing and performing the mascot of 2023 AFC Asian Cup said she boasts of her participation in the creation and authorship of the mascot, pointing out that the mascot will inspire a new generation of football fans.
The words of this song revolve around encouragement and promoting the spirit of enthusiasm, in addition to putting a spotlight on the significance of perseverance and the importance of clinging to hope, al-Meer outlined, hoping that the artwork would promote communication and cultural exchange among fans across Asia.
