The Arab Chess Federation (ACF) General Assembly has elected Qatar's Mohammed Al Mudahka as Vice-President of ACF by acclamation, during a meeting held Sunday in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE), in the presence of 21 Arab federations.
The meeting resulted in forming the executive office of ACF's board of directors chaired by Shaikh Khaled bin Humaid Al Qasimi from the UAE.
Hosted by Sharjah Chess Club, the meeting was attended by president of the union of sports federations of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees Ahmed Nasser, alongside Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, Issa Hilal Al Hazami.
The General Assembly also elected three Syrian, Algerian and Libyan representatives with 4 candidates winning the membership of the executive office. The meeting discussed the most important objectives for the upcoming period, along with plans to expand chess game base and support national unions.
President of Qatar Chess Federation (QCF), Mohammed Al Madhahka, affirmed that the new executive office aspires to reinforce the Arab chess privilege both at the global and continental levels, pointing out that the first meeting will discuss many topics concerning the future of the game.
In remarks to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Al Madhahka added that ACF seeks to upgrade the level of the game through expanding the participation base in the tournaments organized by ACF, in addition to upgrading the tournaments of younger age groups.
Vice-president of ACF pointed out that the General Assembly thanked ACF for its prominent role in the electoral process which aims to upgrade the chess game in the Arab region.
In conclusion, Al Madhahka said the executive office looks forward to determining ACF's Future calendar and intensifying its meetings to set a clear time schedule for contests during the upcoming period.
