Taking forward its commitment to championing social causes, Malabar Gold & Diamonds (MGD), the sixth largest jewellery retailer globally, has carried out a winter kit distribution amongst shepherds residing in remote areas and desert camps in Qatar.
The brand distributed 200 kits directly in Al Jumayliyah area, while the distribution of 11 kits in Wakra area, was organised in association with Cultural Forum Qatar. The activity was conducted as part of MGD's ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) initiatives that the brand regularly embarks upon in all 12 countries of its operation. This is the fifth year that a winter kit distribution has been organised in Qatar.

Our ESG initiatives have always been a key component of our operations and the activities that Malabar Gold & Diamonds have carried out over the years towards such causes have resulted in the enrichment of numerous lives. Winter kits have been distributed in some of the most remote and destitute areas in Qatar and we would like to thank Cultural Forum Qatar for their support in organizing such a noble initiative”, commented Santhosh T V, regional Head, MGD.
ESG has been a primary commitment of Malabar Group since its inception in 1993, setting aside 5% of its net profits towards such causes in every region of operation. The key focus is in the areas of Health, Education, Women Empowerment, Housing, Hunger Free world and Environment. The group, which currently has over 335 showrooms across GCC, India, Malaysia, Singapore, the US, the UK and Canada undertakes several welfare activities throughout the year in the respective regions, a statement added.
