The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has unanimously adopted a resolution submitted by the State of Qatar, Spain, and Brazil on Addressing the Challenges of Persons Living with a Rare Disease and their Families.

The resolution highlights the need to tackle the health and social challenges experienced by over 300 million people worldwide who are affected by rare diseases.

The resolution encourages member states to address the root causes of discrimination against individuals with rare diseases through raising awareness and implementing national policies and measures as needed. (QNA)
