An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 struck Xinjiang Autonomous Region in northwest China.

China Earthquake Networks Center reported that the earthquake occured at a depth of 10 kilometers in the city of Atushi in Kizilsu prefecture.

There were no reports of damage or injuries.

An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale hit Gansu and Qinghai provinces northwest China on Monday, killing 118 people.

China usually experiences strong earthquakes, especially in the mountainous areas west of the country. (QNA)
