HE Chairperson of Qatar General Organization for Standardization and Metrology (QGOSM) Eng. Mohammed bin Saud Mohammed Al Musallam expressed his pride in the State of Qatar's several achievements and unprecedented development in all fields under the wise and astute leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, transforming Qatar into a prominent country regionally and internationally, and a destination for ambitious people from all over the world.
His Excellency added in a statement to the Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the occasion of the National Day, that as the QGOSM commemorates this great occasion, it emphasizes the redoubling of efforts to implement its mission and what the state aspires to achieve during the next phase, in accordance with the Third National Development Strategy and the Qatar National Vision 2030, extending, on behalf of himself and on behalf of all the organizations employees, the warmest congratulations to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, and to HH the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani, the honorable Qatari people and residents of this blessed land on the occasion of the anniversary of Qatar National Day.
HE Eng. Mohammed bin Saud Mohammed Al Musallam noted that the QGOSM achieved a great deal during 2023 including studying more than (2000) draft national specifications and technical regulations. In the field of quality and conformity, several licenses were issued using the Qatari Quality Mark, which aims to enhance the competitiveness of our national products in the local, regional and global markets. More than (10,410) consignments of restricted materials were also accepted. Incoming shipments to various state ports, more than 200 consignments, representing 1.9 percent of the total incoming consignments to the state, were rejected for not conforming to requirements. Also, (259) visits were made to ports, private laboratories, and factories to monitor the quality plan.
His Excellency stated that the Central Laboratories annually inspect and smelt approximately (7.5 tonnes) of precious metals (gold, silver and platinum), as well as carry out more than (1300) inspection tours on shops,as well as shops selling and displaying precious metals and shops, which use scales and fuel supply stations. The organization gained more than 7 million riyals of revenues until the third quarter of 2023.
HE Eng. Mohammed bin Saud Mohammed Al Musallam concluded his statement to QNA by indicating that since the QGOSM is an active member of a number of regional and international organizations, it participated this year in several regional and international events and dozens of its employees participated in training courses at home and abroad with the aim of qualifying and honing their skills and abilities.
The organization also completed several projects in its strategic plan for the years 2021-2025, the most important of which is preparing and updating standard specifications and technical regulations that achieve sustainable development and support national development strategy projects.
