Katara – the Cultural Village saw considerable public turnout for the Qatar National Day (QND) celebrations, which began Friday.
A wide range of cultural, artistic, and entertainment events are being organised until December 18 in collaboration with various entities.
Poetry enthusiasts will have the opportunity today to take part in an event with the participation of Qatari poets Fahd al-Shafi, Khaled al-Buainain, and Hamad al-Majdur.
Katara's Corniche hosted various activities, including the Loyalty Book, which, for the tenth consecutive year, attracted many visitors expressing their love and loyalty to Qatar through their words.
Traditional Qatari dance Arda received significant attention from the audience, who enjoyed the performance of the musical troupe and the national songs.
The traditional tents for activities such as falconry and Al Qalayel Championship attracted increasing interest from heritage enthusiasts who learned about Al Qannas Qatari Society activities and events.
Katara was also adorned with cars as Mawater Centre showcased different models and types of classic cars.
Additionally, the Katara Cultural Market exhibited traditional and heritage collections.
On the Katara esplanade, a number of artists gathered to create expressive paintings about the National Day.
Katara has launched an art competition with first, second and third prizes of QR10,000, QR7,000, and QR5,000, respectively.
Al Thuraya Planetarium offers special shows starting at 4pm with a presentation on the small ideal planet, followed by a star show at 5pm, and a space age dawn show at 6pm.
The southern part of Katara is also hosting the hot air balloons festival and entertainment activities for children.
