Qatar Charity (QC) has initiated the 'Launching 10 Aid Aircraft For Palestine' initiative as part of its 'One Heart' winter campaign. The aim is to engage the people in Qatar in supporting those affected in the Gaza Strip through both in-kind and cash donations and helping them cope with the escalating humanitarian situation, especially with the onset of winter.
The six-day initiative, which runs until December 15, envisages to launch 10 aid aircraft with 600 tonnes of humanitarian aid. It will receive in-kind donations in the rear area of Katara opposite The St Regis Doha, from 10am to 10pm. Additionally, financial donations are received through collectors and collection boxes available on-site.
The initiative also provides an opportunity for the community to participate in packing food aid parcels in collaboration with several volunteers from QC in the International Zone at Expo 2023 Doha, during the same period from 10am to 10pm.
Donations can be made to the “Launching 10 Aid Aircraft For Palestine” initiative through the QC website under the following link: https://qch.qa/10p.
Direct donations can be made through QC’s branches and collection points across the country, as well as through the hotline: 44290000. Donors can also request home collectors to receive the donations from their locations. All, including individuals, organizations, and companies, can contribute to this initiative.
Ahmad Yousef Fakhroo, CEO's assistant for the Resources Development and Media Sector at QC, in a press conference urged the benefactors of Qatar, including individuals, organisations, and companies, to support the initiative. He also urged the media and social media influencers to highlight the initiative to ensure the maximum interaction and participation in its various activities to achieve its goal.
Khalid Alyafei, director of the Emergency and Relief Department, affirmed QC's commitment to swiftly providing humanitarian support to the people of Gaza since the early days of the ongoing crisis, whether through its partners or via the Qatari air lift from Doha to Arish. He stated that this is done as a humanitarian duty to contribute to alleviating their suffering due to the shortage of living necessities and the absence of essential services in the areas of food, shelter, health, and others.
“By the grace of Allah and thanks to the air lift, we managed to transport 225 tonnes of relief aid, benefiting nearly 224,000 persons,” said Alyafei, anticipating that around 936,000 people would benefit from the urgent relief projects currently underway in various fields. He expressed his hope that the support, through the “Launching 10 Aid Aircraft For Palestine” initiative, would continue for the benefit of the affected in Gaza and Palestine.
Faisal Rashid al-Fehaida, CEO's assistant for the Programmes and Community Development sector at QC, said the initiative allows both citizens and residents in Qatar to provide assistance to the affected in the Gaza Strip and Palestine by contributing to the packing of food items that will be sent to them, or by making in-kind and cash donations.
At the conclusion of the “Launching 10 Aid Aircraft For Palestine” initiative, a charitable friendly match will be played under the slogan ‘For Palestine’. Organised by the students of Qatar Academy, the match is supported by QC as part of its support for youth initiatives. The entire proceeds from the match tickets will go towards the initiative. The total amount collected to support the initiative will be announced at the end of the match, marking the conclusion of the initiative, expected to see the participation of several Arab football stars and social media influencers from Qatar and the Gulf region.
