At least 3 people were killed and ten others were injured in a collapse of a gold mine in Zamfara State, northwest of Nigeria.
According to Director of Training at the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Aliyu Kafindangi, bodies of the dead have been found, while an undetermined number of illegal miners are still underground.
Rescue operations continues today in the village of Dan Kamfan to recover the bodies of the workers stranded, he added.
Causes of the collapse are not known, but accidents at these sites are frequent because of soil instability and the outdated methods used by the miners, NEMA said.
