Suheal Qatar carrying the colours of Hamad Ateeq Mohamed al-Marri cruised to Bu Samrah Cup victory at the Al Rayyan Racecourse yesterday.
The feature race, run over 1900m on the turf for Local Thoroughbred Handicap (45-65), three-year-old+, turned into a procession by the 5-year-old chestnut horse, who registered a comprehensive by 11 lengths win under jockey Saleh Salem al-Marri. Abdulatif Hussain MZ al-Emadi’s Alwaad guided by Ivan Rossi finished second, while Dhafi Rashid HA al-Marri-owned Dukhan came third.
Jockey Tomas Lukasek completed a hat-trick of wins when in the penultimate race of the day he guided Mohamed Khalifa TR al-Sowaidi-owned Posuelo Py to the 1200m Purebred Arabian Conditions for three-year-olds+ race win.
Earlier in the day, Lukasek guided Fatima Rashid A al-Naimi-owned and Ahmed al-Jehani-trained Sherood to the 1700m Thoroughbred Handicap (60-80) for three-year-old+ to victory and rode Hamad Ahmed Hassan al-Malki al-Jehani-owned Bahi to win in the 1700m Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate for three-year-olds race.
In the opening race of the day, jockey Giuseppe Cultraro guided Gassim Ghazali-trained Little Lips – in the colours of Mohamed bin Hamad bin Abdulrahman al-Atiyah – to the 1700m Thoroughbred Handicap (45-65) for the three-year-olds+ victory.
