HE the Minister of Culture Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad al-Thani participated on Saturday in a dialogue session on 'Culture and its Role in Society', held on the sidelines of the launch of the 10th Annual Gulf Studies Forum, organised by the Arab Centre for Research and Policy Studies, running from December 2-4.
HE Sheikh Abdulrahman said that culture is a key factor in the preparation for crises, which is not a fixed matter, but a constantly evolving one.
Accordingly, he said, the ministry is working on updating its strategy.
HE Sheikh Abdulrahman spoke about the role of culture in strengthening Qatari identity, an identity derived from and is part of the Arab-Islamic identity, with the former converging with and getting influences by other identities, while at the same time preserving its own specificity.
He stressed the importance of cultural production and the Ministry of Culture's role in this regard, as well as discussing the outlets that the ministry provides to Qatari society for that purpose, and its interest in the cultural formation of the youth in light of the current challenges posed by the digital revolution.
