As part of the activities of the 13th Katara Traditional Dhow Festival, an exhibition of photographs titled "Lawl Dhows" by Qatari photographer Khaled al-Mislmani was inaugurated yesterday by Katara - Cultural Village general manager Prof Dr Khaled bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti.
The exhibition at Katara Esplanade, features 40 photographs from al-Mislmani's collection since 2004, depicting many old wooden dhows from various parts of Qatar.
The popular event continued to showcase more aspects of the marine culture and heritage, offering educational events that go deep into the folk traditions associated with the lives of the fishermen and pearl divers of yore.
The Qatari House Pavilion supervisor artist Abdulrahman al-Mulla said it aims to bring to life a Qatari house from the past. There are sections dedicated to traditional professions, the kitchen, Qur'an memorisation circles and another depicting women's gatherings. Visitors expressed their admiration with the pavilion and its attention to detail for clothing, furniture or recorded sounds.
