China stressed that there is no room for separatist activities aimed at "Taiwan independence."
A spokesman for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office Chen Binhua said that the mainland is willing to create broad space for peaceful reunification across the Taiwan Strait, but will definitely not leave any room for separatist activities aimed at "Taiwan independence."
Chen said the mainland would not tolerate or show leniency to the "Taiwan independence" forces if they dare to take risks and instigate incidents promoting "Taiwan independence." He said that his country shall employ means and necessary measures to protect China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, according to China's News Agency (Xinhua).
Located in East Asia off the coast of China, the island of Taiwan is one of Beijing's most sensitive issues, as it considers the island an inalienable part of its territory and rejects any attempts of separatism aimed at the island's independence from the Beijing authorities.
