Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) has announced registration for panel discussion and awareness workshops through the QCS app for the public and people living with cancer.
These workshops will be held on the sidelines of the International Congress of Gastrointestinal Cancers, on December 1 and 2 at Ritz-Carlton, Doha.
The first panel discussion will be held on the second day of the congress under ‘Prevention of Gastrointestinal Cancers’. It will present many topics, the most important of which are methods of prevention and early detection of Gastrointestinal cancers, infection factors, methods of diagnosis and treatment, and the role of food in preventing the disease. There will be an accompanying medical exhibition in co-operation with health authorities to provide free consultation services (medical and nutritional) and to perform biometric and body mass index measurements for the public.
The other session on the second day of the congress targets people living with cancer and their families under the title, “Food and the Recovery Journey.” It presents many topics, most notably QCS' role in supporting and empowering people living with cancer, the role of food during the healing journey and recovery from cancer and the importance of nutrition in enhancing the chance of recovery from cancer. It will deal with the side-effects of cancer and its treatment that are related to food. It will also address and correct rumours about nutrition during treatment and recovery from cancer and offer medical and nutrition consultation services by hosting an elite group of specialists in this field.
The congress is expected to gather more than 1,000 primary healthcare providers and a group of researchers, academics and specialists in the field of gastrointestinal tumours from several countries, including America, Austria, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Lebanon and Jordan in addition to Qatar.
