The eighth edition of the Qatar Malayali Conference, organised by the Qatar Indian Islahi Centre in collaboration with various Indian community organiations under the theme 'Let’s Preserve our Shore of Harmony,' was attended by thousands of registered delegates.
Sheikh Dr Mohammed bin Hamad al-Thani, director of Public Health Department, Ministry of Public Health, Qatar, inaugurated the event.
Abraham Joseph, chairman of the advisory board of the organising committee, presided over the opening session.
Dr Gopinath Muthukad, Rasheed Ali V P, Shanavas Bava, Sameer Eramala, Raifa Basheer, and Dr Raseel were among the speakers.
The 'Family Meet' session, inaugurated by Muhammed Easa, included addresses by P M A Gafoor and Aju Abraham. Sereena Ahed presided over the session, with Thouheeda Rasheed and Jasmin Naseer also sharing their thoughts.
A media seminar followed, with insights from Rajiv Shankaran and Rihas Pulamanthol.
Engineer Darwish S Ahmed al-Shebani inaugurated the session, presided over by Ameer Shaji, and featuring a speech by Fayiz Elayodan.
The concluding session, presided over by Sharaf P Hameed, chairman of the organising committee, was inaugurated by Indian ambassador Vipul.
Notable figures, including Panakkad Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal, Indian Parliament members K Muraleedharan and John Brittas, Bishop Dr Geevarghese Mar Coorilos, Dr Mallika M G, Dr. Jamaludheen Farooqi, Alankod Leelakrishnan, Shameer Valiyaveettil, K.N Sulaiman Madani, and Ali Chalikkara, addressed the audience.
The event also featured a 'Kalichangadam' session for young children, and Leelakrishnan released a commemorative souvenir.
Santhosh T V, regional head of Malabar Gold and Diamonds, received the souvenir, introduced to the audience by Dr Sabu K C.
Ten long-term expatriate women were honoured with mementos, insurance, gifts, and privilege cards for health coverage.
