Lebanese Caretaker Minister of Economy and Trade Amin Salam has hailed Qatar's continuous support for his country, praising the relations between the two brotherly countries. This came during the Qatari Businessmen Association's (QBA) meeting with a Lebanese economic delegation, headed by Minister Salam, who praised the Qatari investments supporting his country's economy.
Minister Salam pointed out that there are many viable investment opportunities in Lebanon, which Qatari businessmen can benefit from. He stressed that his meetings in Doha with various ministries and economic institutions were successful, and that members of QBA have good understanding of the Lebanese market, pointing that Lebanese investors are willing to invest in Qatar in a number of fields.
For his part, Chairman of the QBA HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim al-Thani praised the strong fraternal relations between Qatar and Lebanon, pointing to the investments made by Qatari businessmen, since the 1970s, in Lebanon.
He stressed the existence of real knowledge of the Lebanese market and the opportunities available in it, with the need to take them to enhance trade exchange between the two countries, stressing that the association and the Qatari business community are ready to invest in Lebanon if stability prevails in the country.
It is important of study the current opportunities proposed by Lebanese companies, HE Sheikh Faisal said, affirming QBA's readiness to provide everything necessary to transform these opportunities into real partnerships, to serve the interests of the two countries' economies.
QBA First Deputy to the Chairman Hussain Ibrahim Alfardan underlined strengthening economic co-operation with the Lebanese side, which contributes to increasing trade exchange. He referred that several high-quality and affordable Lebanese products are available in the Qatari market, which opens the door to more products, pointing to the possibility of establishing Lebanese factories in Doha in partnership with Qatari investors, given the great encouragement that Qatar provides to foreign investors.
The Lebanese delegation comprised a number of businessmen, the President of the Lebanese Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, the President of the Association of Lebanese Businessmen and Businesswomens Union. Qatar-Lebanon trade exchange saw a 29% growth during the past five years, from QR532mn in 2017 to QR684mn in 2022.
