Qatar’s artistic gymnastics team (boys-girls) won 12 medals (4 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze) in the Confederations Cup Championship held in Anadia, Portugal.
During the competition, Fayrouz Hisham won two gold medals in the general individual and vaulting horse equipment competitions.
Dorra al-Feki won one gold in the individual apparatus competitions. Ahmed Samir won four gold medals (apparatus parallel bars – apparatus horizontal - vault apparatus – and pommel horse gymnastics apparatus).
The three silver medals were won by Loujain Attia in the vaulting horse equipment, Ahmed Samir in the general individual competition, and Omar al-Hafnawi in the floor apparatus.
The four bronze medals were achieved in the team category by Yasmine al-Qasimi in the general individual and balance beam competitions (two bronze), Ahmed Samir in the floor apparatus competition, and Omar al-Hafnawi in the pommel horse.
President of Qatar Gymnastics Federation Ali al-Hitmi praised the achievements of Qatar’s artistic gymnastics team in the Confederations Cup Championship in Portugal. Al-Hitmi said in a press statement that the victory of the national teams players in a large number of various medals, is considered a great achievement in light of the fierce competition from various countries in this very strong tournament, and an achievement that satisfies our ambition and we look forward to more in the upcoming tournaments.
He added that this achievement is the result of the efforts of all the employees of the Qatar Gymnastics Federation, pointing out that Qatari gymnastics is on the right path, expressing his hope that the national teams champions will achieve the largest number of medals in the upcoming championships.
