The Qatar Diabetes Association (QDA) concluded the two-day Mena Diabetes Medical Congress 2023 with emphasis on the importance of self-care, pursuit of a healthy, balanced lifestyle and avoidance of obesity, to prevent disease and to reduce its complications and risks.
QDA Executive Director Dr Abdullah al-Hamaq affirmed that the conference was a success by all standards both in terms of the large number of participants including diabetologists, endocrinologists, diabetes educators, neurologists, general practitioners, cardiologists and dieticians from Qatar and beyond, and in terms of working papers, presentations and research, and the meaningful discussions on all matters related to diabetes.
Dr al-Hamaq said the conference was part of the activities organised by the association to mark World Diabetes Day, which is observed on Nov 14 every year.
The conference discussed efforts in diabetes treatment, related complications, technology, and disease prevention. It covered various topics, including new policies and strategies for combating diabetes, innovative approaches to managing its complications, the latest research on diabetes in children, and new treatments for type 2 diabetes, among other important subjects.
