Qatar Charity (QC) continues to deliver assistance to those affected by the Turkiye–Syria earthquakes that occurred in February.
With funding from the philanthropists of Qatar, QC operates a mobile charity kitchen in the Nizip camp on the outskirts of Gaziantep province in southern Turkey.
The project benefits approximately 1,381 Syrian refugees who have lost their homes due to the earthquakes and took shelter in the camp. The kitchen provides breakfast, lunch and dinner, on a daily basis free of charge, for the families residing in the camp.
The residents expressed their happiness with this project, which contributes to alleviating their suffering. Murad, director of the Nizip camp, said: "Thanks to the project implemented by Qatar Charity, food has been provided to the earthquake victims whose homes were destroyed or severely damaged due to the disaster.”
The project eased the burden on the families benefiting from the daily meal, bringing smiles to the faces of those with limited income. He expressed his gratitude to the philanthropists in Qatar and QC for their support for the project.
The mobile kitchen operated by QC was provided by the Qatar Fund For Development for the benefit of those affected by the earthquake at the onset of the disaster. It had previously distributed free meals to the earthquake victims in northern Syria.
More than 8mn people have benefited from the humanitarian interventions carried out by QC for those affected by the Turkiye–Syria earthquake to date. These interventions cover the areas of food supply, shelter, non-food items, health, water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), protection and psycho-social support.
