Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser has withdrawn from her position as goodwill ambassador with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco).
According to Al Jazeera, the move came after Sheikha Moza said Unesco had failed to carry out its role in rescuing and providing relief to the children of Gaza, who are the main victims of Israel’s ongoing bombardment campaign. Al Jazeera said Her Highness Sheikha Moza announced her decision during a summit in Istanbul earlier Wednesday. She has worked with the UN to support global education since 2003.
