A large number of falconers have registered for the Ras Laffan Falcons Championship at the headquarters of Al Gannas Qatari Society at Katara – the Cultural Village.
The registration concluded Monday.
The organising committee of the Qatar International Falcons and Hunting Festival (Marmi 2024) also concluded Monday pre-registration for the popular competitions of Haddad Al Tahadi (where the falcon has to hunt a homing pigeon within set conditions) category.
Abdulwaham bin Omair al-Nuaimi, deputy director of the championships at Al Gannas Qatari Society and Marmi Festival, said that a draw will be held to select the participants of each team, following which the time schedule of the matches will be announced.
He thanked the Ras Laffan Community Outreach programme and the companies supporting it for sponsoring the championship for the fifth consecutive year.
This is part of maintaining the heritage and traditions of the ancestors and passing them to the new generations, he stressed.
The tournament organising committee had earlier launched the online registration process to facilitate the process for falconers.
For those with new falcons, the only remaining step was to present the falcons to the committee for the installation of the hood on them.
Apart for the various competitions for the adult and professional falconers, there will be a competition for the aspiring young falconers and the young falconer competition.
