Qatar Media Corporation (QMC) chief executive HE Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Thani al-Thani has lauded the success of the Spanish radio Hola Qatar, which marked its first anniversary this month.
The official said that the radio “provided an important cultural and media experience during its first year and contributed to enhancing cultural communication and dialogue of ideas between different peoples in light of authentic Qatari national values”.
HE Sheikh Abdulaziz thanked Hola Qatar employees for their efforts, stressing his full support for them to continue to achieve more successes and provide media content that builds bridges of communication between the multiple cultures in Qatar and Spanish speakers around the world.
Qatar Radio director Mohamed Nasser al-Muhannadi said that Hola Qatar has succeeded in providing rich and diverse content that meets the needs and aspirations of Spanish speakers.
He expressed his gratitude to HE Sheikh Abdulaziz for his support and pursuit of media excellence.
Hola Qatar was established based on the vision of the QMC to “keep pace with the new and adhere to our values”.
The radio targets Spanish language speakers in Qatar.
It also introduces the Qatari culture through programmes and news content about the values and authenticity of society.
Its launch on November 2 last year, before the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, was a good opportunity to welcome fans from different countries.
Hola Qatar covers various events such as the National Day, social values, entertainment, health, sports and culture and Ramadan.
The World Cup 2022 was characterised by round-the-clock news coverage in Spanish, highlighting the country’s achievements in local, political, and economic fields, through various reports and interviews with guests from the government and private organisations, embassies and community representatives.
Members of the Hola Qatar team were selected based on skills, experiences, and according to a comprehensive training plan and strategy that benefited from the pioneering experiences of the English and French radio stations.
The Spanish radio provides news and programme content through its website, which includes 24-hour radio broadcasts, and social media platforms via Facebook, the X and Instagram platforms.
