The National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) organised 17 awareness workshops during October, with the participation of about 700 trainees. These workshops are part of the agency's efforts to enhance digital proficiency, cybersecurity capabilities, and expertise for individuals working in both the public and private sectors in the country.
The workshops included 15 sessions in Arabic and two in English, covering a diverse range of topics related to cybersecurity, including fundamental skills, digital safety techniques, as well as spreading education and awareness among government employees in various sectors.
National Cyber Excellence Department Director at NCSA Dalal al-Aqeedi emphasised that these awareness workshops were part of the agency's plan to promote a culture of cybersecurity awareness. They aimed to enhance digital safety in the country, with the involvement of highly skilled and proficient experts capable of guiding the path to success and increasing technological capabilities in this sector.
She added that the NCSA aims to keep pace with developments in various cybersecurity fields, adhering to global best practices. These workshops targeted around 700 participants from various institutions in both the public and private sectors, with 39 participating entities.
The design of these workshops aimed to familiarise participants with fundamental cybersecurity concepts, types of cyberattacks, cybercrimes, best practices, and tools to protect work devices, personal accounts, and social media platforms.
The workshops were designed to support every trainee, regardless of their technical competence or role, in acquiring a comprehensive understanding of fundamental cybersecurity practices and their importance. Participants were educated on potential electronic threats and how to tackle them, as well as common cyberattacks such as phishing and social engineering.
Furthermore, trainees were provided with information on best practices for protecting personal accounts and work devices, securing their social media accounts, and equipping them with tools and applications designed for personal protection and electronic safety in the workplace.
