In recognition of the national breast cancer awareness month - October, Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), through the national breast and bowel screening programme, launched a joint campaign promoting early detection with the Gulf Centre for Foodstuff, a leading FMCG distribution firm in Qatar.
“We are honoured to be partnering with PHCC for this important cause,” said Salah al-Khiyami, Group CEO of Gulf Centre Foodstuffs. We hope that the Pink Ribbon for the breast cancer awareness with the national cancer screening programme’s call centre number engraved on each water bottle on our Al Shamal brand will support in keeping breast cancer awareness on the top of the mind of consumers and increase the awareness towards the importance of screening.
”The availability of the pink labelled bottle with pink ribbon and the call centre number mentioned on it will have a big boost on the awareness programme,” said Peter Mathew, COO, Gulf Center Foodstuff.
Dr Shaikha Abu Shaikha, director, screening programmes at PHCC, said: “One of the cancer screening programme’s goals is to raise awareness through launching campaigns and collaborating with different parties. We had the honour to have an awareness drive, the first-of-its-kind with the Gulf Centre for Foodstuff through the Al Shamal water pink special label through which we will be able to raise the awareness on the cancer screening programme and focus on the screening call centre number to the highest number of the targeted population in Qatar.”
The breast cancer screening service targets all women between the age of 45 to 69, not having any symptoms, haven’t done a mammogram in the past three years and have a valid QID and health card.
Women who are in this category are advised to call the cancer screening call centre on 8001112 to book their routine mammogram check-up.
The cancer screening suites are available in four dedicated health centres: Al-Wakra, Muaither, Rawdat Al Khail and Leabaib.
