Google announced that it will begin requiring Android apps to include a way to report offensive content generated by artificial intelligence (AI) and to follow new moderation rules about what type of AI content is acceptable at the beginning of next year, and indicated that it will require applications to add a button to report offensive material to remain in the Google Play Store.

The company said users should be able to prepare reports without having to step away from the app, similar to the reporting systems that now exist within the app.

The company explained that its policy for AI-generated content covers artificial intelligence chatbots, AI image applications, and applications that create audio or visual content for real people using AI.

Apps that host AI-generated content, those that use AI to summarize material, such as books, and productivity apps that use AI as a feature will not be subject to the new policy. (QNA)
