The middle region of Qatar has seen a record number of citizens camping this year compared to previous years with the number of registration requests reaching 400 within two days, said Fawzi al-Shammari, head of the Winter Camping Season Team at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC).
He told local Arabic daily Arrayah that the registration service at environmental centres, which receive visitors from 7am to 8pm, helped in increasing the number of campers, especially among senior citizens or those who have difficulty using electronic registration platforms.
The second phase of registration for the southern areas, starting today includes areas such as the Sealine, Khor Al-Udaid, Mekaines and others. Citizens who wish to register manually can visit the site in Jariyan Al Batnah area on Abu Samra road.
Al-Shammari said a new area for restaurants was created at the Sealine Area near the Ambulance Roundabout, with multiple entrances and exits to facilitate the movement of vehicles.
He urged campers to adhere to the regulations announced by the MoECC and avoid violations that could result in the withdrawal of camping permits, especially sub-leasing their camps to others.
Environmental inspectors will be working around the clock to detect this violation, as well as noise disturbances caused by loudspeakers.
