The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) will vote Wednesday evening on a Brazilian-drafted resolution that calls for humanitarian pauses in Gaza Strip to allow humanitarian aid access to residents of the Strip.
This October, Brazil, which assumes the UNSC rotating presidency, postponed voting on a draft resolution on the escalation in Gaza and its environs for the second time.
The UNSC was supposed to vote on the draft resolution in Monday's session, but after a round of negotiations with Council members, the Brazilian draft was postponed to vote on Tuesday before being postponed again to Wednesday.
On Monday evening, the UNSC rejected a draft resolution proposed by Russia calling for a "humanitarian pause" in Gaza.
The adoption of any resolution in the UNSC requires the approval of at least nine of the fifteen members of the Council, and the non-use of veto power by any of the five permanent members of the Council (US, UK, France, Russia, and China).
On Tuesday, the Israeli occupation army bombarded Al Ahli Baptist Hospital in Al Zaytoun neighborhood where thousands of Palestinians took shelter after destroying their homes. The raid left more than 500 martyrs and over 600 injured.
