French rider Cyrine Cherif won the Big Tour while Ghanim Nasser al-Qadi and Fahad Abdulkarim Abed claimed top honours in Open and Amateur classes on last day of the opening round of the Longines Hathab – Qatar Equestrian Tour Season 7. At the Qatar Equestrian Federation (QEF) Indoor Arena on Saturday, Cherif rode Moerhoeve’s Princess Z in spectacular fashion guiding the 10-year-old bay to complete the course in 32.20 secs in the second phase of 145/150cm class competition. Finishing second in the event was Salmeen Sultan al-Suwaidi, who on Fiori LS, clocked 33.11 secs in a flawless manner. Saeed Nasser al-Qadi stood third on the podium with a time of 28.70 secs with nine-year-old Carrera Denfer. The Open Class saw Ghanim Nasser al-Qadi bagging victory with Quick Step after a flawless 51.55 secs performance. Rashid Towaim al-Marri, who rode Navaronne, came second for his time of 52.05 secs while Khalid Sanad al-Nuaimi guided Goliat to third place for his time of 53.59. In the newly-introduced Amateur class, Abed emerged as winner with Argelith Squid clocking an error-free 46.74 secs. Tameem Ibrahim al-Hor teamed up with Jalieny Diamant Z for second place in 47.64 secs while Sheikh Abdulla bin Tamim al-Thani and Grietje WS sealed third place with a time of 48.03.
