European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell stressed that the Israeli occupation's call to evacuate more than a million Palestinians in Gaza towards the south of the Strip within one day can only constitute a humanitarian crisis.

Borrell said during a press conference in the Chinese capital, Beijing that as a representative of the official position of the European Union, the evacuation process is absolutely impossible to implement, adding that imagining the possibility of transferring a million people in 24 hours in a situation like Gaza can only constitute a humanitarian crisis.

He added that civilians must certainly be warned, but it is absolutely unrealistic for a million people to be able to move within 24 hours.

Thousands of Palestinians fled from Gaza City yesterday towards the south of the Gaza Strip after orders from the Israeli occupation to evacuate their homes, which suggests that it is preparing for a possible ground operation, which coincides with its continued violent and unprecedented bombing of civilians and residential neighborhoods and its imposition of a comprehensive siege on the sector, which is inhabited by more than 2 million people, in a narrow geographical area.
